Vollo Cafe
Just a few words about this little hole in the wall.
Not really a pub but if you like beer then check it out.
At the corner of Dundonald and Yonge (east side of Yonge just south of Bloor), you might pass this place a thousand times without a second glance.
I know because I have. And I am not the only one.
One of my best friends works a couple of streets down from Vollo. Last summer a friend of his said they should meet here. He walks in and gets what I call "The Book of Beer", the menu - literally hundreds of beers - from imports that I have never heard of to craft beers from tiny breweries all over Canada.
Any type of beer you could think of is here.
So my friend, after having multiple orgasms, picks himself off the floor, wipes his brow and asks the waiter how long they have been open.
"Uh, seventeen years," is the reply.
As I said, you could walk by this place a thousand times ...
And on top of it its just a terrific place to have a drink. Quiet. Cool.
Great little place. If you like your beer (and if you're here I presume you do) then get in there and have one or six.

This is my local and it takes me 30 minutes to walk here.
The best draught and bottle lineup in the city.
The friendliest host and owner you'll encounter in Toronto (ask for Ralph).
The freshest taps and best cask (or real ale) in the city.
A place to grab a pint or take your significant other to and have a nice meal. Neat Italian Bistro vibe.
Go there now if you haven't been. I have been a convert now for three years; the support of local breweries is amazing and the local vibe carries over to the wine and even cheese.
My favourite place in Toronto; glad you had a chance to stop by Black Dog.

Amazing. I live only few blocks away and have never seen this place before. Thanks for pointing it out BD, I might have to stop by this weekend. If it has anywhere near as many draft brews as the falling rock tap house
http://www.fallingrocktaphouse.com/beerlist.html I will be impressed
Quality over quantity Oiler Joe, it is a tiny place, 15 or so taps I think, all Ontario (or Quebec). All pretty solid too.
But nothing compared to the quality and selection you could find at Falling Rock - a place I've always wanyted to visit! Colorado has a great brewing scene (Coors aside :) ).
oiler joe - I went here after the Tuesday afternoon fiasco to have a few to drown my sorrows - they have (had) a chocolate cherry stout and it was incredible - I know, sounds ridiculous but give it a try
beyond what's on tap they have a vast vast variety of bottled beer - another I would recommend is Rogue - I have tried a couple of theirs (they are Oregon)- again one being a stout
Good stuff.
That stout is from Black Oak in Oakville Black Dog - a wonderful rare treat, the brewer does not make it too often. You can find their pale ale and nut brown in some LCBO's and Beer Stores.
Thanks for the tip Jeff.
Bar Vollo used to be Cafe Vollo. Ralph got into beer in a big way a few years ago.
